Manchester is one of the UK’s leading cultural cities. The Manchester Art Gallery , just a short walk from Manchester Central houses some of the UK’s finest pieces as well as playing host to major touring exhibitions. The Lowry, a little further out of town, is an architecturally intriguing building and includes some of the cities most famous pieces of art.
Music & Nightlife
Manchester is home to some of the UK’s most famous bands. The Smiths, Oasis, Joy Division, New Order and Take That all call Manchester home. Why not try and catch some live music whilst you’re in the city.
Manchester has a huge range of bars, clubs and restaurants. Alberts Schloss is a highly recommended night out. You can usually find live music, fun and laughter wherever you go in the city.
Manchester has an incredibly varied number of cuisines on offer. A trip to Chinatown is highly recommended during your stay.
Manchester has a large bustling shopping district a short walk from Manchester Central. The Arndale Centre is a large shopping mall that is home to over 200 shops.
Manchester boasts two of the largest football clubs in Europe – City and United. Visits to both Old Trafford and the Etihad are recommended. If football is your passion a visit to the National Football Museum is a must. Just a 10-minute walk from Manchester Central the museum is home to a huge number of exhibits detailing the past, present and future of the world’s greatest game.
